All Saints Penarth Community Cinema - screening 'The Critic'. 'Academy Award Nominee Sir Ian McKellen stars as a powerful London theatre critic who lures a struggling actress into a blackmail scheme with deadly consequences. A suspenseful thriller co-starring Gemma Arterton, Mark Strong and Lesley Manville. Set against the backdrop of pre-war London in the 1930s, "The Critic" is a captivating exploration of power dynamics, ambition, and the harsh realities of societal intolerance. Sir Ian McKellen delivers a masterful performance as the titular critic, a manipulative figure whose sharp tongue and keen insights mask a darker agenda. All Saints Penarth Community Cinema - screening 'The Hundred Foot Journey'. 'All was going well in the peaceful French village with Madame Mallory the proprietor of the Sauce Pleureur the Michelin Star restaurant until an Indian family open Maison Mumbai just across the street...a war of sabotage with complaints to the Mayor and anyone else who will listen. Oh its funny - Helen Mirren is superbly pompous as Mde Mallory and there's some cookery lessons thrown in for free just from watching the film. Helen Mirren was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance. Certificate PG.
