About Us
The Penarth Ministry Area is a collection of people who meet together regularly as we try to live life in a way that reflects the way that God calls us to be. We are made up of both young and old, traditional and modern, liberal and conservative, certain and confused, and we don't always agree on everything - but above and beyond everything we try to be a community that loves each other, and loves God.
Come along and experience the church as a family that will journey alongside you as you discover and live your life of faith.
We are situated just to the south of Cardiff in the Vale of Glamorgan, in the Diocese of Llandaff, part of the Church in Wales. Our Diocesan Bishop is the Right Reverend Mary Stallard.
We have what is probably the oldest building in Penarth (St Peters Church in Old Cogan), as well as one of the most visible and recognisable landmarks across Penarth, Cardiff Bay and the Bristol channel (St Augustines) plus a wealth of history and fascinating stories tied up in each church.
But more important than any of these things, we are a community of people seeking to follow Jesus here and now.

Sadly we said goodbye to Rev Mark Jones on 31st August, as he left to take up a new role in Oxfordshire.
We are grateful for the time he was with us, leading us through the difficult times of Covid with the churches being closed and then working out how to open safely with social distancing.
He also led us through the merger of the two parishes of Penarth & Llandough with All Saints, forming the new Penarth Ministry Area, and leaves us on strong ground, looking to the future.
We wish him well in the future and hope he will settle well back to some teaching as well as being a Chaplain.

This is a simple and traditional service of communion, without music or singing. A peaceful and gentle start to the day for the more reflective or early risers.
10am - Sung Eucharist
A relaxed and informal service, which is our main gathering of the week. We have bible readings, songs, prayers, a talk and most weeks we share communion together.

The main Sunday service is quite formal but also relaxed, dignified and friendly. The liturgy is carefully planned with music that is inspiring and uplifting. The clergy aim to give challenging sermons that both educate and inspire.

Young People's Ministry
Children and young people are important to us. They are an integral and loved part of our church life and worship. We aim to encourage both them in their spiritual development and their parents or carers in the role they can play to support them.
Penarth Ministry Area has a strong and growing children’s and youth ministry and provides a wide variety of exciting opportunities for children and young people to enjoy.
PEAS meet in the 'Lesser Hall' on the grounds of All Saints Church. Parents are asked to drop children directly to the hall before the service starts.
Children are brought back to All Saints Church by the children and young people's team in time for communion at 11am.

POD meets during the 10am service where Young People and leaders start initially on the Gallery inside All Saints Church, and then travel with leaders to the Youth Room on the grounds of All Saints church.
POD comes back to the service in time for communion at 11am.

All children under 10 are welcome to join in with the simple, fun activities with a Bible theme, but please bring an adult with you.
The Sunday School is usually held on the first Sunday of the month.

We have play and creative activities for children and a fantastic breakfast for all - cereals, fruit, pastries, muffins and the tasty bacon sandwiches. It's all free (though donations are welcome.)
TOAST is a great opportunity for families to connect and make friends in an environment that is relaxed and fun. We'd love you and your little ones to join us. TOAST is aimed at 0-4s, with older siblings welcome too.

Sessions are currently suspended as we search for a new leader. The playgroup usually runs in term-time on Thursday mornings between 9.30-11am.
Entry is by suggested donation of £2, and is suitable for children about 6 months to 3½ years.

Events
Join us for a delicious cream tea on the Gallery at All Saints. Tickets include a scone with jam and cream, slice of cake, unlimited tea or coffee and live musical entertainment. Plus a raffle. All proceeds to Penarth Ministry Area funds.
There will be a Bat Walk in the Churchyard on Saturday 27th September led by Jess Dangerfield. Meet at the main entrance of the church at 7.30pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring a torch and wear suitable footwear. There is no charge for this but donations will be welcome. Come and find out more about the wildlife in the churchyard.
HARVEST UNITED SERVICE Sun 28th Sept 10am at All Saints Church. The whole Ministry Area is invited to come together to celebrate Harvest with a United Service. (No other services that day). This will be followed by: HARVEST BUFFET LUNCH 12.30pm in All Saints Lesser Hall. Everyone welcome to our Autumn Fair, with stalls, crafts, tombolas, gifts and decorations. We'll also have tea, coffee and delicious home made cakes to eat or take away.

An Open Afternoon to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of WW2. Includes exhibition, talk and concert. Free entry, refreshments available.

A Friends of St Augustine's Event. Marcus Payne will give a talk in the Parish hall, Albert Road on the effect of World War 2 on Penarth. This is in preparation for the commemoration taking place in the church on Saturday 6th. Doors open at 7pm and the talk starts at 7.30p Entrance is £5, £3 for members of the Friends.

Join us as our 5 churches come together for a Palm Sunday celebration, remembering Jesus's joyous arrival in Jerusalem and the events leading up to his crucifixion. Please stay for coffee and fellowship afterwards.

Come and see the magical display of Christmas Trees in St Augustine's Church. Each year, we have about 50 Christmas trees in the church, decorated by local community groups, schools, businesses, charities, families or individuals. At the event, visitors come in to view the trees and then can vote on their favourite. There is a programme of music throughout. Profits go to the 3 nominated charities (75%) and Ministry Area funds (25%). Refreshments are in the Parish Hall at the same time as the Festival, with seasonal preserves and cakes also on sale. Concerts
Penarth Chamber Music Festival presents An evening with David Adams, Alice Neary and Jâms Coleman 6.30pm Discovering Music 7.30pm Evening Concert - Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart
Our first Autumn Concert will feature the brilliant soprano Sarah Dacey in songs by a range of composers including Ravel, Weill, Weir and Rob Fokkens, as well as chamber music by Rebecca Clarke and others. Sarah is joined by William White (clarinet), Nancy Johnson (viola), Rosie Biss (cello) and Aisha Palmer (harp). Tickets £10 on the door
This spring will see Al Lewis, bilingual singer/songwriter from Wales, embark on a unique tour in partnership with Transport for Wales; visiting towns and cities all along Wales' stunning rail network. Door time: 7:00pm Start time: 7:30pm
