All Saints Penarth Community Cinema - screening 'The Queen'. Critically acclaimed film of the Queen at a time of great strife. Tony Blair has just been elected ending 18 years of Conservative rule. Shortly after Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris. The Queen's initial reaction is to hold ranks and treat Diana as an outsider but she hadn't realised the landslide of public grief and opinion against this course of action... As we have just passed the second anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's death, this seems like an apt time to look back at the days that made history one week in the summer of 1997. Certificate PG15 - slight strong language.
All Saints Penarth Community Cinema - screening 'Back to Black'. A celebration of the most iconic - and much missed - homegrown star of the 21st century, BACK TO BLACK tells the extraordinary tale of Amy Winehouse. Painting a vivid, vibrant picture of the Camden streets she called home and capturing the struggles of global fame, BACK TO BLACK honours Amy's artistry, wit, and honesty, as well as trying to understand her demons. An unflinching look at the modern celebrity machine and a powerful tribute to a once-in-a-generation talent. Certificate 15
All Saints Penarth Community Cinema - screening 'The Hundred Foot Journey'. 'All was going well in the peaceful French village with Madame Mallory the proprietor of the Sauce Pleureur the Michelin Star restaurant until an Indian family open Maison Mumbai just across the street...a war of sabotage with complaints to the Mayor and anyone else who will listen. Oh its funny - Helen Mirren is superbly pompous as Mde Mallory and there's some cookery lessons thrown in for free just from watching the film. Helen Mirren was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance. Certificate PG.
